Windows work groups are designed for small organizations or small groups of people that need to share information. Each computer can be added to a workgroup. And the user names and passwords to gain access to resources on that computer are not shared with any of the other devices on the network. This means that the username and password to gain access to resources on one computer could be very different than the username and password used to gain resources on another computer.
This means if you want to change your password, you have to change that password on every single computer associated with this workgroup. If your organization is an enterprise, school or other large organization, this is the account for you. Workgroup accounts are best suited to home computers, small networks where all users have the same privileges, and for networks that do not have a domain controller server.
